A.L.Ex and the ImproBots: An AI Show for Kids! is a part scripted, part improvised kid show about empowering young people to engage creatively with technology. The show is performed for live audiences at festivals and venues around the UK, and coming soon in Virtual Reality for remote audiences. We feature cutting edge technology performing with VR headsets, using motion capture suits, and digital puppetry. We also offer workshops and installations for introducing young people to ethically empowered creative use of emerging technology.

Dr. Boyd Branch (Director/Co-Creator)
Boyd has been directing and producing experimental digital theatre for over 15 years. He joined Improbotics in 2019 and began directing a completely digital version of the show for online audiences in 2020. Boyd will be directing the new Midlands-based kid show. He is an immersive technology and improvisational theatre researcher at Coventry University. Boyd also publishes regularly about his experimental work with AI, digital technology, and theatre in academic journals, and this work will be part of an ongoing research project into collaborating with artificial intelligence and performing in virtual spaces.
Dr. Piotr Mirowski (Producer/ Co-Creator)
Piotr has been running Improbotics, the London-based AI theatre lab, since 2016. He is a leading AI researcher and improv specialist who is co-developing the project. Piotr has performed Improbotics’ completely improvised, critically acclaimed show all around the world. He also publishes regularly about his work with AI, digital technology, and theatre in academic journals, contributing to the ongoing research into collaborating with artificial intelligence and performing in virtual spaces.

Are you an actor or improviser based in the Midlands who loves technology, creativity, and performing for kids? We want you for an exciting new live and virtual show based in Coventry!
What we are looking for:
- Experienced actors and improvisers of all backgrounds, experience levels, body types, and identities.
- Physically flexible and expressive
- Comfortable with performing with and for technology (cameras, sensors, screens, etc).
- Experience with clowning, acrobatics, dance, or other physically expressive forms.
- Experience improvising.
- Comfortable wearing skin-tight mocap suits for rehearsal and performances.

About the Position:
We debuted our kid show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival this year to sold-out shows. We are starting a Midlands-based troupe to continue developing the show in Coventry and Birmingham.
- Trial Period: Performers are cast on a 6-week trial basis, with the potential for a permanent role afterward.
- Rehearsals: Weekly on Wednesdays, 6-9:30 pm.
- Performances: We perform in various UK festivals and venues. Travel and accommodation costs are paid for, and an agreed-upon stipend is provided for live shows.
- Virtual Performances: In development.
